The Marangu Route Known as the “Coca-Cola” route, the Marangu Route is a classic trek on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the oldest, most well established route. Many favour the Marangu route because it is considered to be the easiest path on the mountain, due to its more gradual slope. It is also the only route which offers sleeping huts with dormitory style accommodation. There are 60 bunk beds at both Mandara and Kibo Huts, and 120 bunk beds at Horombo Hut. Guests are supplied with mattresses and pillows, but sleeping bags are still required. The huts have communal dining halls and basic washrooms, ranging from flushing toilets and running water at the lower huts to long drop toilets and buckets of water at Kibo Hut. Arrive anytime at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), there will be a pick up private transfer waiting to Stella Maris hotel in Moshi to spend one night with all meals included. You spend rest of the day at leisure at the lodge. You will get to enjoy the swimming pool this afternoon. All airport transfers are the part of the package, no extra fee is required. We will gather in the evening for a pre-climb briefing and an equipment check.
After breakfast you will be taken to the Kilimanjaro National Park gate at 1,840 m. Upon completion of the necessary paper work, your trek commences and soon you will be hiking through the dense rainforest of Marangu. Looking up, you might have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the thumb less black and white colobus monkeys. After you have reached the Mandara Hut (2,700 m) in approximately 4 hours and you have had some time to catch your breath, you will have the option to join a walk to the Maundi Crater where you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the Kenyan interior, as well as of the gleaming lakes which share the border between Kenya and Tanzania. An early breakfast strengthens you for the trek ahead and shortly after leaving Mandara Hut you will reach the cross roads between Horombo Hut and Maundi Crater. Heading in the direction of Horombu Hut the vegetation will change to shrubs and you will cross the open moon land reaching your destination in approximately 4 – 6 hours. Looking back your path will already be shrouded in clouds and looking forward you will catch glimpses of Mawenzi, Kibo peak and the Maasai steppe. Zebra Rocks is on the agenda today, in order for your body to acclimatize to the altitude. Acclimatization plays an important role in improving your chances to reach the summit and this 2 to 4 hour trek offers you the opportunity to stretch your legs and breathe in the fresh air. Zebra Rocks (3,980 m) is named after the distinct black and white stripes covering the rock formation. A hot lunch will await you on your return and the rest of the afternoon is for you to enjoy the spectacular views around you and regain your strength for tomorrow’s hike. After breakfast a long and tough journey to Kibo Hut awaits you. The vegetation slowly changes into alpine desert and you will pass the “last waterpoint” on your way to the so-called “saddle”, a plateau situated between the peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo. You will arrive at the Kibo Hut in about 5 to 6 hours and go to bed straight after dinner as the summit calls for an early start, at approximately 23h00. Dinner, Lunch and Breakfast included (FB).

The summit day has finally arrived and at around midnight, when the lava ash is still frozen, you will start your ascent. Your path will be strenuous with only your headlight to light the way. You will pass the Hans Meyer Cave at 5,200 m and slowly make your way up. Gilman’s Point at 5,715 m will be reached as the sun rises over the crater rim. You will continue another 1 to 2 hours to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). The cold is soon forgotten as you stand on the “Roof of Africa”, basking in the rays of the morning light. After well-deserved photo opportunity you will descend along the same path. The lava ash will now have thawed, allowing for a faster descent. Upon your arrival at Kibo Hut, a warm meal and approximate 2 hours rest awaits you, before you continue down to the Horombo Hut. Dinner, Lunch and Breakfast included (FB).

The surrounding vegetation becomes greener as you continue your descent and soon you will arrive at the Mandara Hut (2,700 m), where a hot lunch awaits you. The journey back to the park gate gives you another chance to observe the beautiful tropical rainforest and spot anything you have missed on the way up, like the Impatiens Kilimanjaro Flower, which is endemic to the rainforest on the slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro. At the Park Gate you will bid farewells to your Mount Kilimanjaro guide and porters, then a waiting car will take you to Arusha (about 30 minutes) where you will relax ready for your Tanzania safari starting tomorrow, touring the Northern Tanzania Safari Circuit. Overnight at Ilboru Safari Lodge or at Planet Lodge in the outskirts of Arusha town. Dinner, Lunch and Breakfast included (FB).

On arrival, go for a late afternoon game drive at the enormous, famous and the second largest park in the country to experience its abundant wildlife. All the “Big 5” are found in this great park and other huge number of animals including wildebeests, spotted hyenas, cheetah, impala and quite number of birdlife. After breakfast, go for a full day game drives across the famous Serengeti National Park with packed lunch boxes until sunset. It is in this park that more than six million hooves pound the legendary “endless plains”. Every year, triggered by rains, more than a million wildebeest, 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson gazelle gather to undertake their long trek to new grazing lands. The rutting season is a frenzied three week bout of territorial conquest and mating, followed by a survival of the fittest as the 40km long column of animals plunges through crocodile infested waters on their annual exodus north. The species are replenished during the brief population explosion that produces more than 80,000 calves a day before the 1000km return pilgrimage begins. In the morning after breakfast, depart to Ngorongoro Crater, the 8th Natural Wonder of the World with your packed lunch boxes for a game drive and will stopover at “Olduvai Gorge Archaeological Site”, (The Cradle of Mankind) - The site is significant in showing the increasing developmental and social complexities in the earliest humans (it holds the earliest evidence of the existence of human ancestors). The crater is a virtual Noah’s Ark, inhabited by almost every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa including the rare black rhino. The large bull elephants that reside here have extremely large tusks, due to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soil and its grasses. They are the most incredible elephants you’ll ever see in your life. “Ngorongoro Crater” is the largest collapsed volcanic crater in the world and fourteen Kilometres of isolated natural beauty. The Crater is surrounded by a ring of extinct volcanoes and the floor, dotted with watering holes, and shelters some 30,000 animals. After breakfast, drive for 3 hours to Tarangire National Park with packed lunch boxes. On arrival, go for a full day game drive across the enormous beautiful Tarangire to experience the wildlife until sunset. Among other species, Tarangire National Park is said to have the highest concentration of elephants than any other park in the country. You have a chance to spot zebra, baboon, warthog, flamingo, giraffe, impala, elephant, hippo, wildebeest and the rare tree climbing lion. After breakfast at the lodge, go for a “Maasai Boma Visit” - an authentic glimpse into the distinctive “Maasai Culture”. Preservation of their proud traditions has set the Maasai apart from other indigenous groups in Tanzania, and embodies a side of Africa with which few outsiders can contact. Maasai expeditions will offer you as a visitor, a memorable opportunity to interactively experience the Maasai way of life including their dress code, occupation, dancing and singing and visit their bomas (traditional family dwelling). Later, after the visit - depart back to Arusha (a 2 - 3 hours’ drive) with your packed lunch boxes, arriving in the afternoon.
At late afternoon you will be transferred to the Kilimanjaro International Airport where you will take your flight to Zanzibar Island. On arrival you will be Met and greet by our guide and driver at Zanzibar Airport. Our representative would be holding a name card for you for easy identification and transfer to the Zanzibar Queen Hotel (Located in East Coast of Zanzibar Island). Morning after breakfast pick-up from Zanzibar Queen Hotel for the Zanzibar Spice Tour on this tour you will see and taste the tropical fruits, spices plantation or plots in the island. A variety of spices plants used as ornament, medicines, flowers, fruits and another interesting flora can be seen during spice tour and if you will have a time, you will visit Kidichi bath built in 1850 by the first Sultan for his wife Sheharzad (Grand daughter of Fateh Ali Shah of Persia).
After Spice Tour we'll head to Stone Town one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and Cultural Arts Centre of East Africa. You will have the Stone Town City Tour takes around the historical culture and architectural important town of Zanzibar with a century history. It includes a visit to former slave market site, now stands as Anglican church built in 1871, town market, visit the Zanzibar Memorial Museum, House of Wonder built in 1883 (Beit-Al-Ajab), Old Arab Fort, Palace Museum, Old Indian dispensary (Cultural Center).
After the Lunch, you will have a trip to Prison Island Boat Trip,Visit Lloyd Mathew's Architecture built in 1893 and the Island is a home of Aldabra Giant Tortoises. Flanged by an amazing beach of reef sanctuary, the island is ideal for swimming, snorkeling and beach relaxation. After tours, you will be dropped off at Zanzibar Queen Hotel for overnight (HB).

Setting sail from Fumba, you will explore the Menai Bay where dolphins are often sighted. When dropping the anchor at Kwale sandbank, you can snorkeling the coral reefs. Kwale Island - a great place to explore and climb an ancient baobab tree, which fallen down hundreds years ago but still standing tall. You’ll be served a buffet of grilled fish, lobster, calamari, chickens and coconut rice.
